Lifting equipment consists of a variety of slings, manual chain blocks, and manual lever hoists. Manual chain blocks involve a chain as a hoist mechanism and are cheaper and easier to maintain. Their only downside is you can’t scale them to loads larger than 5t.
Slings usually come as chain, nylon or wire slings. They usually have a Grade 80, Grade 100, and Grade 120 tensile strength. All our slings adhere to strict SABS standards and are cleared for safe industrial use.

OUR RANGE OF OVERHEAD LIFTING EQUIPMENT
RGM Cranes stocks a wide range of heavy-duty chain slings for lifting, which are suitable for industrial rigging and lifting applications. Chain slings come in single, 2, 3, and 4-leg variations which can lift a maximum of 32.5 tonnes. Chain slings are extremely durable are resist crushing, kinking, impacts, and abrasions.
Nylon slings are made of synthetic fibers and can be just as strong as chain slings. But their particular advantage is in lifting fragile loads. Nylon slings are available for load capacities from 1 to 100 tonnes. We can advise you on the correct tensile strength to select for your synthetic fiber sling.
MANUAL LIFTING EQUIPMENT
The simplest form of this are manual chain blocks which involve a chain as a hoist mechanism and are also usually cheaper and easier to maintain. The downside being that manual chain blocks are mostly for low load capacities and cannot be scaled to loads higher than 5t.
OUR INDUSTRIAL CRANES AND RANGE OF LIFTING EQUIPMENT HELPS THE AUTOMOTIVE, CONSTRUCTION, MINING AND MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES IN SOUTHERN AFRICA MEET THEIR DEMANDING PRODUCTION SCHEDULES.
WHAT IS AN OVERHEAD CRANE USED FOR?
Overhead cranes assist in the lifting, transport and movement of large, heavy loads in a variety of industries. With a permanent crane mounted above your working area, heavy items can be moved to where they need to be without the use of forklifts or other machinery.
HOW DOES AN OVERHEAD CRANE WORK?
Overhead cranes provide 3-dimensional lifting for heavy loads: side to side; forwards and backwards; and up and down. The lifting device – the hoist or hoist crane – is mounted on a trolley for horizontal movement across a bridge beam connected to one or more horizontal girders (single or double beam) which are supported at either end by end trucks. The end trucks are attached at right angles to the girders and move on fixed runways. The horizontal travel of push-type cranes is powered manually by the operator; alternately, an electric overhead crane is powered by electricity.
WIRED ROPE HOISTS AS AN OVERHEAD SOLUTION
Electric wire rope hoists are the preferred winch system in many heavy duty overhead cranes around the world because of their superior tensile strength. They can be used across a range of load capacities, typically from 5 to 100 tonnes.
UNDERSTANDING TYPES OF CRANES HOISTS
Our range of overhead crane hoists encompasses both electric chain hoists and electric wire rope hoists. Single and dual-speed operations are available. Single-speed is most commonly used for normal lifting and lowering applications, while dual-speed hoists are better suited when more precise movements are required beyond just loading or offloading goods.
In addition to our core products, we carry a full range of chain hoist accessories to ensure we're able to cater for every type of lifting requirement. While we stand by the superior, industry-leading durability of our products, we always keep a full range of spares in stock to ensure your business is supported and functioning optimally at all times.
