WIRE ROPE HOIST CRANES

For loading capacity requirements up to 50t, you require a reliable, resilient hoist solution. Whether it for lifting needs which don’t require a high duty factor, such as an engine crane or more frequent lifts in a factory or warehouse setting, RGM cranes can help you meet your needs. In fact, if you are not familiar with some of the technical specifications you may encounter, for example, how to determine if a wire rope hoist duty factor will meet your needs, you can simply use the calculation:

Time = (Load Spectrum x Hook Path x Cycles Per Hour x Working Time) ÷ (60 x hoisting speed)

This is an extra step taken only by the most technical customers and should probably be left to your process engineer or process technician. On the other hand, if you only need an off-the-shelf offer, Guralp wire rope hoist cranes are a great solution. Firstly, they are durable. With a rope guide made of cast iron (GGG60); a smooth rope lead-in by means of a rope drum machined from a seamless tube with finely machined grooves to minimise rope wear; high precision helical gears and quiet operation motor; and a forged steel hook – their models are some of the best in the business.

Whether you want to employ one of the Guralp wire rope hoist cranes in your workshop or in a factory, there are many options for you to choose from, based on your load specifics and duty cycle requirements. You can opt for a fixed option with a limited hook path such as a fixed height gantry crane or a double girder crane, or you could opt for a movable hoist

GURALP WIRE ROPE HOIST CRANES

Guralp wire rope hoist cranes have a load capacity of between 1 and 80t as standard with variations in hoist speed and duty cycle. As explained above, the duty cycle is a complicated calculation, but it basically summarises the ability of the hoist to work without downtime. You do get models of crane that have a duty factor of 100%. However, those are not based on a wire hoist mechanism. Those would be more drum-based models or custom-fitted process cranes. Wire hoist cranes are usually limited in terms of hoisting speed and hook path.  The hook path refers to two separate concepts: the end hook approach and the side hook approach.

  • End hook approach is the minimum horizontal distance, parallel to the runway, between the centre of the hook and the wall at end of the building.
  • Side hook approach is the minimum horizontal distance, perpendicular to the runway, between the centre of the hook and the centre of the runway rail.

The one is relative to the building itself, and the other is relative to the actual crane system and how it’s set up. You can always extend the crane rail to the length you desire, this also includes the length actual rope of the wire rope hoist, as you will want to increase the rope length in tandem with the height and length of the crane itself.

Available wire rope hoist crane models have varying reeving rates from 2/1 to 6/1 depending on the load capacity. Reeving rate refers to the time it takes to thread a rope through a ring or aperture. In this case, as a pulley system, it would refer to the amount of time it takes for a wire rope hoist to lower itself to the target load. Reeving and hoisting speed work hand in hand, since the faster the wire can move through the pulley aperture, the faster the hoisting. Again, this has its limits and one of our trusted RGM Cranes technicians can walk you through the benefits and drawbacks of wire rope hoist cranes. Perhaps you require another type of crane to fit your needs better
